What to Expect When Spooning Sweets from Annie's Kitchen?

Hi! Welcome to Annie's Kitchen!

After cooking some home-cooked meals (Please see my other blog: What's Cooking in Annie's Kitchen?), it's time for D-E-S-S-E-R-T!!!

There's something about spooning sweets that makes me smile, that makes me happy, that makes me feel like a child, that brings out the child in me. :-)

Spooning sweets is the best way to end my lengthy stays in my kitchen, where i have had my share of adventures. Before you form any misguided impression of me....I am NO cooking professional! But I would like to consider myself as someone in between a cooking enthusiast and a home cook in training.

I just had my own kitchen last 30 August 2009. After flying for almost a day, coming from the other side of the world, tada! I had my own kitchen. At that time, I was a bit groggy and had a jet-lag overdose. Back then I had no idea that my adventure has just began. :-)

After recovering from a bout of jet-lag overdose, I stepped into MY (music to my ears!) kitchen and found myself rooted on the kitchen tiles (no music playing now)...Geez! I had no idea what to do in my kitchen! At that point in time, I knew I needed help. I was lost. I didn't know where to start, how to begin...hesitant to move lest I do anything stupid. After all, I have one very important person to impress! ;-)

So I sought help from people, people I really don't know but very nice people who, unbeknown to them, have thrown in the ropes for me, pulling me out of the pit of distress by sharing their ideas and experiences in their own respective kitchens. And that's when I began my status as a home cook in training.

Now, attaining a status of being a cooking enthusiast is another different story. In my mind, a cooking enthusiast is someone who can cook with eyes closed and who can find her way in the kitchen with total efficiency and effectiveness. Though I enthusiastically search, try and improve recipes that catch my fancy, I am in no way yet can cook with my eyes closed (not literally speaking, of course! geez!) nor can I claim that I can work with total efficiency and effectiveness---though I am striving to achieve all of that. And when I do, that's when I can confidently label myself as a cooking enthusiast. And hey! maybe a cooking professional someday! Just wishful thinking haha!

So for the moment, apologies for my tinkering! And join me when I say Sweet Spooning! :-)
